The 2:1 halyard block is a compact and super strong block, made of 'Nitronic 50' steel (very strong type of steel, the same kind that is used for rodrig).
The sheave is in aluminum, and runs on a composite bearing with stainless steel hub (see drawing above). This means that the bearing has low friction, can handle high loads and should not be lubricated.
The self-captive delrin side ball bearing reduces friction, making it easy to clean and maintain.
